Literary Vacation Challenge

When is the best time to dream up summer vacations?
How about now, when summer is almost over time to think of all those places you didn't quite get to. Well, we almost didn't get to this challenge this summer, but we are sneaking it in too.

We came up with the Literary Vacation idea in the spring when we were thinking about places to go this summer. There are so many places in books, places we feel like we've been but haven't --we thought, why not just GO!

Tell us about places you'd like to go --inspired by a book. Whether fictitious or real, an author's hometown, or a place in the book. Use your imagination and make some plans!

*In the next week watch for
details about our
inspired trip
to Lola!

  1. I've been dreaming of this for a while.

Going to Birchbark Bookstore I love independent bookstores, I adore Louise Erdrich and wow, to visit her bookstore... well that would be a wonderful trip!

We hope to make it there one of these summers.

  3. I agree with The Little Sister... we want to go to Laura Ingalls Wilder's Museum and see all the places she lived too. It could be a really long trip --but really fun!

  4. Mine is inspired by the book "Honey, Let's Get a Boat" by Ron and Eva Stob --I want to go to the Trent-Severn Waterway and spend as much time as we can exploring the Waterway... that would be a great vacation!

Every time I read a book by Anne Rivers Siddons, I want to go to North Carolina and the Outer Banks (but not right now, with the hurricane on the way!)

Reading Becoming Naomi Leon ( by Pam Munzo Ryan ) inspired me to want to go to The Radish Carving Festival, and Cinco De Mayo in Mexico! The Market is exciting, the fireworks are beatiful and the food tast and looks divine! I'm deffinately going to go in real life!
