Cool Resources:
WorldCat is brilliant. It is difficult for some libraries to keep their collections in sync (up to date.) So we suggest finding your local library and then searching for books within their own system. Many libraries offer interlibrary loan which allows them to borrow books from all over the world and many offer this service at little or no cost. Visit www.worldcat.org and explore, we bet you'll like what you find.
The director of our local library suggested this site. She thought we'd like it and, as usual, she is right. Its worth a visit just to check out the Awards page. While some of the lists are incomplete, the Newberry only goes back to 1982, others make up for it. For instance the Nobel list enlightened us. We are not too hot on the site's colors/layout, but found that the comprehensive lists and information make up for the style completely! Visit www.fantasticfiction.co.uk. Check out the preferences link in the upper right hand corner which you can set to look at US books only, enjoy.
In honor of National Poetry Month (April) we added this resource. From poet's biographies to extensive lists of poetry --this is great place to start if you want to learn about poetry. Learn more, go to www.poets.org.
"Choose Privacy Week is a new initiative that invites library users into a national conversation about privacy rights in a digital age. The campaign gives libraries the tools they need to educate and engage users, and gives citizens the resources to think critically and make more informed choices about their privacy."
We are always impressed with what the library offers us!!
