This week we want to share something amazing. It’s by an artist named Wendy MacNaughton. She made a set of drawings all about the San Francisco Public Library. But these aren’t just regular drawings. They show what it feels like to be there.
You can see people reading, resting, researching, learning English, staying warm, or just being. It’s like she drew the soul(s) of the place(s).
Libraries are like time machines that work in both directions—they hold stories from the past, they help us right now, and they grow our imaginations for what’s possible. Wendy’s art is kind of like that too—it helps people see what’s usually invisible: care, kindness, community.
We think libraries are part of the commons—places that don’t belong to just one person, but to everyone. And the more we take care of them, the more they take care of us. Kind of like our art, we have to practice, to draw, to look, to listen, to be quiet, to notice.
So go look at Wendy’s drawings. They’re drawn snapshots of a present, and if we work and play and draw and read, they’ll be part of the future too.

"95% of the books we have are not online." What a wild reality! It is easy to think that the Internet connects us with everything... but it doesn't does it?
